SECONDARY SCHOOL TRIPS

Field trips are  valuable for secondary students as well, in DIS other than stealing their time on  regular class time,  students get the chance to explore unique opportunities for kin-aesthetic learning i.e. ‘learning by doing and encourage students to engage with people, places and buildings in new ways. Learning outside the classroom is rewarding and enriching for both teachers and pupils alike.

World scholar’s cup challenge.

The competition featured;

  • Team Debate (public speaking, persuasive argument, peer feedback)
  • Scholar’s challenge quiz (critical thinking, decision making)
  • Collaborative writing (team work, rhetoric, written communication)
  • Scholar’s Bowl (fast paced group problem solving)

All students performed well and received both silver and gold medals in different areas and two senior teams qualified for a global event. From DIS those who earned Global Round berths through their exceptional performance at the 2019 Dar Es Salaam Regional were:  Sr Team 660 – Elissa Shour, Linda Mushi, Iman Magembe and the second Sr Team 661 – Karen Ndimubenya, Ivy Anatory, Olivia Akpaumontia.

The event was highly academic and of course lots of fun in the “untalented show” which is designed to help children develop confidence in themselves without worrying about being perfect.

Dis is proud to have participated in this this competition for the first time and we are sure to do it next year from our primary section.
